INFORMATION OF TICKET TO MACHU PICCHU

Type of tickets:

Please note the following information before purchasing your ticket :
  • The only document allowed for foreigners (not Andean Community) is the passport.
  • The number of tickets per day is limited, they tend to sell out quickly, especially in high season, from April to October approximately, and in the Christmas and New Year season, from the fortnight of December to the first week of January, so we recommend that you buy your tickets well in advance.
  • Keep in mind your train schedule and date of visit, so we recommend buying your train ticket before your entry ticket to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
  • Currently  there are 10 schedule:  6:00 hrs, 7:00 hrs, 8:00 hrs, 9:00 hrs, 10:00 hrs, 11:00 hrs, 12:00 hrs, 13:00 hrs, 14:00 hrs  y 15:00 hrs.
  • The tickets for the routes, Circuit 4 + Huayna Picchu Mountain and Circuit 3 + Machu Picchu Mountain, sell out very quickly, especially the tickets for Huayna Picchu Mountain.
  • Ticket are non-refundable and non-transferable, Therefore, at the time of purchase you must enter the required data correctly, full names, identity card number with which you will enter, etc.
  • Students, from 18 to 25 years old, who wish to purchase a student ticket will have to present their student card. The ISIC card – International Student Identity card, or any other card (library card, dining room card, etc.) is no longer accepted.
  • For people belonging to the Andean Community of Nations, i.e. Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, the cost of the ticket is the same as for a national.

Circuit 1-MACHU PICCHU PANORAMIC (Classic photo - Machu Picchu)

This circuit has 04 routes:

  • ROUTE 1 A, Machu Picchu mountain Route.  (Maximun stay 7 Hrs.) 
  • ROUTE 1 B, Upper terrace Tour.  (Maximun stay 2 h 30 m)
  • ROUTE 1 C, Inti Punku Gate Route  (Maximun stay 2 h 30 m) High season only
  • ROUTE 1 D, Inka Bridge Route. (Maximun stay 3 hrs)

Circuit 2-MACHU PICCHU CLASICC.

This Circuit has 02 Routes:

  • ROUTE 2 A, Designed Route. (Maximun stay 2 h 30 min.)
  • ROUTE 2 B, Lower terrace Route. (Maximun stay 2 h 30 min.)

Circuit 3-ROYALTY CIRCUIT

This circuit has 04 Routes

  • ROUTE 3 A, Huayna Picchu Mountain Route (Maximun stay 6 hrs)
 
  • ROUTE 3 B, Designed Route. (Maximun stay 2 hrs 30 min.)
 
  • ROUTE 3 C, Great Cavern Route. (Maximun stay 7hrs.) – ONLY HIGH SEASON
 
  • ROUTE 4 D, Huchuy Picchu Mountain. (Maximun stay 3hrs 30 min.) – ONLY HIGH SEASON

Useful information about Machu Picchu

What is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?
  • It is during the dry season, from April to November approximately, may vary each year, during this time the presence of rain is little, but Machu Picchu to be in high jungle, it tends to rain throughout the year, so we recommend taking rain poncho.
  •  
  • Visiting hours: Machu Picchu is open all year round, the entrance hours are from 6:00 to 15:00 hrs, then you can stay until 17:30 Hrs.

The ticket to enter Machu Picchu can be obtained one day before the visit, but it is advisable to get it much earlier because they run out quickly, especially in high season, so it is better to have the ticket in advance.

If you plan to visit Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, it is advisable to get the ticket well in advance because there is only a very limited number of tickets per day so they run out quickly.

During your visit to the Machupicchu llaqta the following is prohibited:

 

  1. Carrying backpacks, bags or purses larger than 40x35x20 cm (16x14x8 inches).
  2. Entering with food and household items.
  3. Entering with any illegal substance or under its effects.
  4. Entering with any type of alcoholic beverage or in an alcoholic state.
  5. Carrying canes, umbrellas, umbrellas, portable seats, tripods, supports or extensions for cameras, cell phones or any other element of stabilization or extension for filming and/or photography.
  6. Entering with animals, with the exception of guide dogs.
  7. Feeding domestic and wild animals.
  8. Enter with any type of aerosols.
  9. To carry out any type of graffiti.
  10. Enter with any type of musical instrument, megaphone or loudspeaker.
  11. Making loud or annoying noises such as clapping, shouting, whistling or singing, among others.
  12. Using virtual applications with cell phones or mobile devices in narrow arteries.
  13. Entering with high heels or hard sole shoes.
  14. Entering with strollers.
  15. Entering with sharp objects and/or weapons of any kind.
  16. Entering with banners, posters, posters, clothing intended for advertising purposes, costumes, among other objects of this type. Filming or photographing for advertising purposes.
  17. Causing a disturbance, jumping, lying down, running, undressing or creating disorder.
  18. Climbing or leaning on walls and/or structures. Touching, moving or removing lithic elements.
  19. Disturb, collect or extract flora or fauna.
  20. Engage in activities that distort the sacred character of the Llaqta of Machupicchu, such as fashion shows, dances, social engagements, obscene acts contrary to morals and good customs, or any type of activity that implies damage or deterioration of the monument, its natural environment, and/or installations.
  21. Smoking, vaping or any kind of fire.
  22. Throwing waste of any kind.
  23. Not respecting the established circuits and routes.
  24. Street commerce in the monument and surrounding areas up to the Ruins Bridge.
  25. Overflying with paragliders, drones or any type of small craft.

In general we recommend to take few things that do not go against the regulations and prohibitions mentioned above, among the things we recommend to take would be:

  • Comfortable shoes, if possible for trekking, since the hike lasts an average of 2 hours, between ascents and descents.
  • Comfortable clothes and not too warm, hat, Machu Picchu is in high jungle, so it is not cold.
  • Bottle or cup of water for hydration.
  • Rain poncho, as we mentioned it is in high jungle so it rains almost all year round, especially there is more rainfall from November to March, being the rainy season.
  • Comfortable and small or medium size backpack.
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent for the presence of mosquitoes.
